The Department of Occupational Therapy at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) invites highly qualified, motivated, and well‑organized applicants for a pool of temporary part‑time teaching appointments. The mission of the CSUDH Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) Program and Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) Program is to prepare entry‑level clinical practitioners with the knowledge, skills, and understanding necessary to practice in traditional as well as emerging occupational therapy roles with an excellent foundation for later specialization and lifelong learning.
The MSOT and OTD Programs are structured to help students prepare for a professional career focused on helping people achieve skills and utilize resources to live independent and meaningful lives. The programs aim to produce client‑centered therapists with enhanced critical thinking abilities, capable of researching, developing, implementing, and evaluating procedures with a high degree of independent judgment and consulting with other health‑care team members when appropriate.
The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled based on student enrollment and authorized funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid‑December; the Spring term begins mid‑January and ends in mid‑May. Opportunities for teaching during Summer Sessions may also be available.
Responsibilities- Promote the University’s mission, vision, and core values
- Adhere to CSUDH Policies and Procedures, including all Guidelines stated on the University Faculty Handbook
- Develop course syllabus, course evaluations, and learning activities that meet course objectives, program learning outcomes, and accreditation requirements
- Provide up‑to‑date occupational therapy course content in line with current professional trends and practice demands
- Implement appropriate instructional methods and technology that enhance student learning outcomes
- Maintain office hours and be accessible to students, faculty, and staff
- Provide timely, appropriate, and constructive student feedback that elicits critical thinking, enhances clinical reasoning, and promotes professional development
- Contribute to curriculum development and the department strategic plan goals
- Participate in faculty meetings as well as department and university events
- Participate in evaluation processes that determine instructional effectiveness
- Prepare and submit instructional records, reports, and grades according to university policy
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.
- Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching.
- A Master’s degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.
- A PhD, a Post‑professional OTD, or extensive professional experience is required for teaching upper‑division core courses (300‑ or 400‑level).
- Experience teaching undergraduates from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
