Position Description

The Department of Orthotics and Prosthetics at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), invites highly qualified, motivated, and well‑organized applicants for part‑time teaching appointments. We celebrate diversity and seek applicants who can demonstrate experience in teaching and working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

The Masters of Science in Orthotics and Prosthetics (O&P) and the O&P Assistant program provide educational opportunities for students to evaluate and create treatment interventions for patients requiring orthopedic braces and artificial limbs. Courses cover orthotics and prosthetics theory and application, research design, and allied health topics, integrating evidence from research, clinical assessment, and functional testing to develop optimal treatment plans.

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed based on enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term starts in late August and ends in mid‑December; the Spring term begins in mid‑January and ends in mid‑May. Summer Session teaching may also be available.

Responsibilities

  • Managing instructional material and course content for assigned courses.
  • Delivering course content.
  • Managing and posting evaluations and assessments for the course.
  • Attending O&P faculty meetings.
  • Utilizing CSUDH correspondence with students and faculty.
  • Being a positive influence on the students, the program, and the University.
  • Assisting in program activities, evaluations, reports, and meetings.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s or terminal degree and/or certification in a related field.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the college or university level and evidence of strong teaching.
  • Experience teaching undergraduates from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Ph.D. or extensive professional experience required for teaching upper‑division core courses (400 or 500 level).

In accordance with the California State University Out‑of‑State Employment Policy, employment is limited to California residents.

Salary and Benefit Information

Lecturer A or B rank; salary ranges determined by the hiring department. The CSU system offers a competitive total compensation package including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and tuition assistance.
