The California State University, Dominguez Hills Toro Auxiliary Partners was incorporated in 1968 as a partner of the University to provide services and develop and enhance programs that are an integral part of the University's educational mission. CSU Dominguez Hills is a highly diverse, metropolitan university primarily serving the South Bay area of Los Angeles County. Established in 1960, CSU Dominguez Hills is one of the 23 California State University system campuses.

Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) is a federally funded initiative based at the California State University Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), serving the high school graduating class of 2028 attending school in the Centinela Valley Union High School District (CVUHSD). GEAR UP works in partnership with educational and community-based institutions to increase the number of low‑income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education by providing a variety of support services and enrichment activities.

The Student Success Coach will work closely with Program Coordinators to provide counseling and advising services to high school students. Responsibilities include reviewing student files, discussing student needs, and identifying a priority caseload for individual and small group advising. The Coach will conduct grade checks, identify strengths and opportunities for growth, and make proper referrals to student support and enrichment services.

Additionally, the Coach will facilitate small group and classroom workshops on social‑emotional wellness, career exploration, college options, and financial literacy. The role also involves training and guiding College Mentors on adolescent development, social‑emotional learning, student‑mentor communication, college and career guidance, and student support services, while maintaining student files, tracking participation, and performing data entry in the student information system.

This is a part‑time, non‑benefited position with employment through Toro Auxiliary Partners. Employment is at‑will and may be terminated by either party at any time, with or without cause or notice.

At least three days a week, up to 25 hours per week, preferably between 9 am and 5 pm.

$22 per hour

• College graduate.
• Experience working with high school students from underserved and underrepresented communities.
• Knowledge of higher education college systems and financial aid.
• Experience providing workshops about college options, admissions requirements, and application procedures.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must be reliable and punctual.
• Must be able to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Must pass Live Scan fingerprinting provided by the program.
• Must have reliable transportation.
