Role SummaryWe are looking for a technical leader to guide a team of Design Release Engineers (DREs) in taking advanced power electronics from concept through high‑volume production launch. You will drive design innovation within highly challenging packaging environments, ensuring seamless integration across on‑vehicle and off‑vehicle programs. As a cross‑functional bridge, you’ll collaborate with Electrical Engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers to execute DFM strategies and resolve complex technical roadblocks.
This is a high‑impact role where you will manage the full mechanical lifecycle and provide critical design maturity updates to executive leadership in a fast‑paced environment.
- Leading a group of mechanical Design Release Engineers (DREs) to develop power electronics products from the concept phase and all the way to production launch.
- Working in a fast‑paced environment for various on‑vehicle programs and also potentially off‑vehicle power electronics.
- Providing technical design guidelines and design innovations to design teams for a highly challenging packaging environment.
- Working closely with Electrical Engineering, TPM, and other functional cross‑functional teams to share the product development updates and remove any blockers.
- Leading component DFM discussions with suppliers and executing the design in corporations.
- Providing the design maturity, and change details and updates to leadership.
- Leading the cross‑functional team discussions of the power electronics development in terms of mechanical packaging, including the production and manufacturing.
- Working with the pre‑production build team to meet all prototype build demands.
- Working with the production manufacturing team to meet their production requirements and support the production build readiness milestones.
- Leading the component and assembly design release, working with PLM team through Enovia.
- Working on mechanical design issues by providing root cause and corrective resolutions.
- Supporting the product production launch.
- Minimum master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- Minimum 10 plus years of professional work experience in high‑voltage automotive power electronics product development.
- Minimum 3 plus years of professional work experience in people management.
- Technical knowledge and manufacturing process experience in power device cooling and thermal management.
- Having PCBA manufacturing process knowledge.
- Must be proficient with CATIA CAD tool.
- Automotive supplier managing experience.
- Knowledge or experience with sheet metal stamping, casting, wiring harness, and plastic injection molding processes.
- Strong leadership skills and collaboration skills with cross‑functional teams.
- Problem‑solving capabilities and willing to drive to resolve product technical challenges.
- Always maintains a positive and proactive attitude.
Salary Range for California Based Candidates: $176,200 – $ (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
