Overview
Akkodis is seeking a Technical Writer for a client located in Carson, CA 90746, with this position being Onsite.
Pay Rate: $35 - $40/hr;
The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Job Description:
The Technical writer will be responsible for creating/writing the site's disaster plan manual for each department/leadership group. Review current compliance requirements for the site readiness plan. Research appropriate processes to meet site compliance. Work directly with the VP of Operations to finalize the plan/manual. Communication with multiple teams/leaders.
Must Have:
- Previous Technical Writing experience for a manufacturing/business site
- Experience with disaster manuals
- Compliance or safety knowledge (willingness to research) focuses on creating, revising, and maintaining technical documentation, such as Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM) and Service Bulletins (SB), based on engineering drawings.
Key Responsibilities
- Documentation Creation:
Develop and revise technical publications, including Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM), Service Bulletins (SB), and Illustrated Parts Catalogs (IPC). - Engineering
Collaboration:
Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Support departments to ensure the technical accuracy of documentation. - Data Analysis:
Interpret engineering blueprints, 3D CAD models, and design data to create accurate, user-friendly documentation. - Technical Illustration:
Utilize software to create or update graphics, including diagrams, charts, and photographs, to enhance understanding. - Compliance & Standards:
Ensure all documentation adheres to industry standards such as ATA-100 and iSpec-2200. - Process Improvement:
Suggest and implement improvements for technical publications to the Technical Publication Manager.
Required Experience & Skills
- Experience:
Generally, 3+ years of technical writing experience in an aerospace engineering or manufacturing environment. - Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Communications, or a related technical field is preferred.
Technical Proficiency:
- Software:
Proficiency in Adobe Frame Maker, Adobe Acrobat, Corel Draw/Iso Draw, and Microsoft Office Suite. - CAD/Tools:
Experience with SGML Editor (Arbortext), AutoCAD, or basic 3D CAD modeling is highly desired. - Aerospace Knowledge:
Familiarity with Aircraft Maintenance Manuals and airframe (OEM) experience is preferred.

High accuracy and thoroughness in reviewing technical data. - Time Management:
Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
