About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Methods Engineer (Electrical Engineering focus) to support manufacturing and field operations within rail systems production. In this role, you will bridge engineering design and shop-floor execution by developing clear, standardized work instructions and ensuring manufacturing readiness of electrical systems.
You will play a key role in translating complex engineering data into actionable, technician-friendly procedures that improve quality, efficiency, and safety across production, installation, and retrofit activities.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, revise, and standardize electrical work instructions, travelers, and SOPs for production, installation, retrofit, teardown, and testing.
- Translate engineering drawings, OEM manuals, BOMs, and technical documents into clear step-by-step procedures.
- Wiring installation and removal
- Harness routing, termination, and labeling
- Electrical cabinet assembly/disassembly
- HV/LV system upgrades and modifications
- Equipment retrofits
- Functional testing and inspections
- Validate engineering BOMs (EBOM) and manufacturing BOMs (MBOM) for accuracy and production readiness.
- Support ECR/ECO/CCB implementation and evaluate shop-floor impact.
- Review schematics, drawings, and material lists to ensure alignment with production requirements.
- Maintain revision control and configuration traceability.
- Act as a technical liaison between engineering, production, quality, and field teams.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues related to wiring, materials, installation, and tooling gaps.
- Support pilot builds, first article inspections (FAI), and customer or regulatory audits.
- Identify bottlenecks and drive process improvements in efficiency and quality.
- Define tools, equipment, consumables, and materials required for production processes.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, including LOTO, grounding, and applicable regulations.
- Support internal and external audits with accurate documentation and process control.
- Develop and deliver training for technicians on new or updated procedures.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer from engineering and OEM partners to production teams.
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing, process optimization, and digital transformation initiatives (MES, ERP, workflow systems).
- Electrical Engineering background or equivalent technical experience
- Experience in manufacturing, rail, automotive, aerospace, or industrial systems preferred
- Strong ability to interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings
- Experience with BOMs, ECN/ECO processes, and production documentation
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate clearly with both engineering and shop-floor teams
- Work on complex, large-scale rail and electrical systems
