Position Salary Range: $6,727 - $10,091 per month

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $7,500 – $8,000 per month.

Salary is commensurate with experience.

About the Department/Position:

Under the general direction of the Director of Financial Aid & Scholarships, the Associate Director of Financial Aid Systems provides leadership, oversight, has the responsibility for supervising staff, and coordinating the CMS Financial Aid Module (systems) and Fiscal operations. The position participates in the development, implementation, and guidance on the utilization of existing and the deployment of new technologies to achieve optimal quality of service and leads process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

The Associate Director also employs project management skills to facilitate operational objectives and manages required statistical data and financial reporting activities.

Overview of

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with management in the development and administration of the People Soft Student Administration Financial Aid Module activities, including planning for the development and utilization of automated processes and technology to facilitate quality service and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Oversee financial aid module activities and functionality in support of financial aid application processing, awarding, and delivery of funds.
  • Serves as a subject-matter resource for financial aid systems and assists with system testing and documentation.
  • Provide direction, and ensure effective and efficient coordination, planning and monitoring of workflow for the financial aid fiscal operations unit.
  • Work with Fiscal Unit team members on project plans designed to support and resolve eligibility issues, edit and exception processing, oversee the delivery of funds to students, and facilitate mandatory reporting activities for the Federal, State and Institutional Aid Programs (Federal Pell, Direct Loan, Cal Grant, MCS, and other State Programs).
  • Provides analysis and recommendations to management. Assists with preparation and review. Analyzes impact and communicates findings to management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Professionals at this level have three-Five (3-5) years of experience and a bachelor's degree. One (1) year of supervisory/managerial or leadership experience required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of the practices and activities of the Financial Aid Office and any other duties as assigned.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and methods utilized for financial and personal management and budgetary preparation and control.
  • General knowledge of modern office and data handling methods, forms and equipment related to the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with students, parents, staff and outside organizations.
  • Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations, ability to use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous CSU experience in Financial Aid or similar department.
