Master Stylist

GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Master Stylist engages guests, consults on hair care needs, and recommends products and services. The Master Stylist delivers quality professional services with an emphasis on the guest’s total look, supporting the Experience Manager and Assistant Services Manager through performance, people, and process focus. This position requires a passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and the aptitude to learn and communicate product knowledge.

• Perform hair services including hair design, haircuts, color, texture, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Meet or exceed a sales goal of $1,250 average weekly sales and productivity goals for hair services.
• Perform product demonstrations with guests to drive sales and guest service experience.
• Support the execution of in‑store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives that deliver an unrivaled guest experience.
• Stay informed regarding new and existing industry trends, products, and services.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance.

• Develop guest relationships through consultations and appropriate retail and service recommendations.
• Serve all guests, including walk‑in guests, in a timely and efficient manner.
• Partner with skin therapists and the retail team to provide a total‑store and well‑rounded guest experience.
• Establish professional peer and brand partner relationships that foster a shared interest in exceptional guest experience.
• Share the benefits of the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attend mandatory trainings and meetings.

• Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow all safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures and state board guidelines.
• Follow established service protocols for consistency.
• Use booking and clientele systems for return services and events.
• Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager.
• Maintain outstanding store operational standards, including cleanliness of all areas.
• Adhere to the Ulta Beauty dress code.
• Protect company assets by following loss prevention best practices.
• Execute other operational tasks as directed.

• Cosmetology license.

• Previous relevant work experience is required.

• Proficiency with latest salon techniques for a wide range of services.
• Proficiency with equipment and chemicals needed for technical work.
• Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell professional hair care and makeup products.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.

• Work a flexible schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

• Continuous mobility during shift.
• Continuous lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs during shift.
• Frequent bending, reaching, and twisting during shift.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time during shift.
• Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects during shift.

Pay range: $20.00 – $20.00 per hour, with the opportunity for services pay pursuant to the Company’s Services Compensation Plan. Eligible associates may also earn overtime pay as required by applicable law and tips paid by service guests. Full‑time positions are eligible for paid time off, health, dental, vision, life, and disability benefits. Part‑time positions are eligible for dental, vision, life, and disability benefits.
