Role Description The Customs Broker role at Mainfreight is a full-time, on-site position based in Carson, CA. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and submitting customs entries, classifying goods under applicable tariff schedules, and ensuring compliance with U.S. customs regulations and other government agency requirements. The role involves coordinating with internal operations teams, carriers, and customers to obtain necessary documentation and resolve customs-related issues promptly.

The Customs Broker will track and monitor shipments, address holds or inspections, and provide clear communication and updates to customers. This role also supports continuous improvement in customs processes, maintains accurate records, and contributes to high service standards within Mainfreight’s international freight operations.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of customs regulations, tariff classification, and import/export compliance, including experience working with U.S. Customs and other regulatory agencies.
• Proficiency with customs brokerage systems, freight management platforms, and standard office software (e.g., MS Office) for documentation, reporting, and communication.
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to interpret regulatory requirements and trade documentation.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with customers, carriers, and internal teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple shipments, deadlines, and priorities accurately.
• Relevant customs broker license or certification is highly desirable; experience in international logistics or freight forwarding is a plus.
• Ability to work on-site in Carson, CA, and maintain a professional, customer-focused approach aligned with Mainfreight’s values.
