Overview

C.H. Robinson is seeking an Area Manager. The role focuses on maintaining optimal productivity and cost for branch customers, supervising day‑to‑day warehouse operations including inbound receiving, outbound shipping, quality control, production, maintenance, and sanitation. This 2nd‑shift position (3:30pm‑12am) requires on‑site presence five days a week.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Educate staff on Distribution Center Model vision, guiding principles, and strategy
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of inventory, production processes, quality control, costs, and productivity techniques
  • Maintain metrics evaluating operational and economic performance in receiving, shipping, inventory, production, and service level offerings
  • Ensure customer service metrics are consistently met or exceeded
  • Ensure crews deliver products within quality, condition, and food safety protocols
  • Operate efficiently and cost‑conscious to meet budgeted objectives
  • Review preventative maintenance schedules and work orders for equipment
  • Ensure safety and sanitation schedules comply with HACCP, OSHA, and Prime inspection standards
  • Reinforce safety culture by enforcing policies and procedures
  • Communicate clearly with all audiences, inform and listen actively
  • Work with leadership to execute SOPs and ensure accurate documentation
  • Manage equipment use and maintenance safely
  • Oversee supplies and packaging to support daily operations
  • Identify improvement areas, recommend changes, and analyze metrics
  • Root‑cause problem‑solve to drive process improvement
Team Leadership
  • Ensure efficient, productive, accurate, and professional operation of distribution center crews
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels, schedules, and training needs
  • Deliver performance feedback and corrective actions to staff and account teams
  • Maintain a constant presence to support and lead warehouse staff
  • Provide a safe work environment and collaborative culture
  • Handle sensitive information with integrity and discretion
  • Participate in recruitment, selection, promotion, and merit programs
  • Outline role accountabilities, manage performance, provide coaching and development
  • Encourage feedback through formal and informal channels and drive culture of trust and continuous improvement
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • Minimum 18 years old (required)
  • Minimum 2 years experience in warehouse, distribution center, or manufacturing operations (required)
  • Knowledge of efficient and safe warehousing practices (required)
  • Basic computer skills (required)
  • Manual dexterity and occasional lifting up to 50lbs (required)
  • Ability to work whole days in a temperature‑controlled environment (required)
