The Loker Student Union provides an environment which is designed to encourage interaction among the campus' constituent groups (internal and external), enhance the sense of campus community, and expand the avenues through which the university educates students.
Through its many activities and services, the Loker Student Union provides cultural, social and recreational programming that supports the educational mission of the University, encouraging the development of citizenship, leadership, and social responsibility for success in a dynamic and pluralistic society.
Shift and TravelBusiness Hours (Monday-Friday);
Attendance is required for work or events during daytime, evening, or weekends (periodically). Occasional travel may be required.
Under the general supervision of the Executive Director, the Assistant Director, Facility Operations is responsible for the strategic oversight and daily operations of the Loker Student Union (LSU) facility, including building maintenance, reservations and events services, facility services, and telecommunications infrastructure. This position leads emergency management, capital planning, risk management, safety compliance, and contract administration, performing the following duties either directly or indirectly through managed employees.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in Operations Management, Hospitality Management, Business Management, or a related field; and a minimum of five (5) years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred QualificationsExperience working in a public, high-traffic facility. Project Management Professional (PMP) or Facility Management Professional (FMP) certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Knowledge of facility operations, building maintenance, custodial services, reservations/events services, telecommunications infrastructure, and facility management best practices.
- Knowledge of safety compliance, emergency management, risk management, business continuity, incident response, applicable laws, building codes, CSU policies, and Cal/OSHA regulations.
- Knowledge of budgeting, fiscal planning, capital planning, contract administration, purchasing, vendor management, and service contract oversight.
- Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate policies, procedures, rental agreements, rates, operational strategies, and process improvements.
- Ability to lead, supervise, train, assign, and evaluate professional, student, and part-time staff.
- Ability to analyze data, resolve problems, exercise sound judgment, and make data-informed recommendations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members, clients, regulatory agencies, public groups, management, and Boards of Directors.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, deadlines, and operational responsibilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, cloud-based applications, database systems, facility maintenance software, building security systems, and event scheduling platforms.

- Developandoversee properand timelyexecutionofpolicies,procedures,rentalcontract agreementsandrates,organizational strategy,and capital planning relating tofacilitymanagement,operations,and services;regularlyassess unitinitiatives forimprovementswithdata-driven decision making; analyze andapply emerging trends, best practices,and process improvementstounitoperations.
- Develop fiscalplanning recommendationsby maintaining areserve fund study andcapitalplanningstrategy;support fiscalgoals by designing and implementing strategies tolimit operating costsanddevelop revenues;maintain fiscalaccounts withinallocations and prepare reports formonthlyreconciliations,projections,andquarterlyplanning and reporting.
- Drivethe implementationandmaintenanceoforganizationalriskmanagement;directinternal processestoidentify andlimitliabilityandriskinLSUoperations,programs,services,and emergencyresponseprotocols;administer the
Injury andIllness Prevention Program (IIPP), establishsafetystandards, andadministerasafetyprogram andtrainings ensuring compliancewithapplicable laws,building code,CSUpolicies,the CSUIRICmanual, andCal/OSHA regulations;coordinatewithinsurance providersandworkers'compensationservice providersforreporting requirements;support auditsandinvestigations. - Ensure theoptimaloperation oflifesafety systems including fire suppression,AED,andemergencyoperations; administer and coordinate business continuityplanningandincident response, ensuring prompt andcorrectreporting ofincidents;serveasbuilding marshal.
