Quality Technician II, Metallurgical (2nd Shift) Job Information
- Location:
Carson, CA, United States (On-site) - Schedule:
Full time (2nd Shift)
- Perform metallurgical and/or mechanical testing on manufactured products.
- Handle complex testing of manufactured products due to a broad understanding of test systems and/or metallurgy.
- Demonstrate successful completion of training qualifications and examinations for NADCAP accreditation.
- Perform complex or unusual tests for metallurgical evaluation, using instrumentation and control systems (static and dynamic strain measurement, temperature control and measurement, atmospheric effects, hardness machine, load cells, tensile, x-ray plating, hydrogen detector, fatigue, stress rupture, etc.).
- Troubleshoot faulty equipment and investigate suspect test data (e.g., hardness and tensile strength correlation studies).
- Perform all types of mechanical testing, including calculating, conducting, and reporting test results; perform special testing procedures and programs as required; investigate and verify customer returns.
- Recommend improvements to equipment and test techniques to the Lab Supervisor.
- Conduct quarterly test fixture inventory and prepare orders for new or replacement tooling as necessary.
- Provide technical guidance for laboratory technicians less familiar with equipment and procedures.
- Test samples of manufactured products to verify conformity to specifications.
- Record test results on standardized forms and write test reports describing procedures used.
- Calibrate and maintain all metallurgical/test equipment in the test lab.
- Assist with audit preparations if required.

Qualifications Basic Qualifications- Prior laboratory experience in mechanical and/or metallurgical testing or laboratory training related to mechanical and metallurgical testing.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States; verification required a sponsorship not available.
- Subject to ITAR, requires U.S. person status.
- 2 years of lab related testing experience.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
