We are growing our team with a Mechanical Project Technician to support our Southern California market.

• Oversee and provide on‑site support for delivery, installation, repair/maintenance, and demobilization of RTI mechanical rental equipment, ensuring project excellence.
• Direct refinery personnel and contractors on staging and demobilization of RTI mechanical equipment.
• Measure and track project status using appropriate systems, tools and techniques.
• Assist Mechanical Project Managers as requested.
• Create and share lessons learned to improve project performance.
• Perform/leads teams to work safely in all plant settings; identify potential safety incidents and mitigate as necessary to prevent incidents from occurring.
• Perform other duties as required to support RTI’s business needs.

• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
• Ability to use hand tools to create and maintain operating equipment.
• Ability to clearly and confidently communicate plans to refinery contractors (strong communication skills—written and verbal).
• Ability to diagnose and solve problems during actual applications.
• Perform work safely in all settings.
• Valid driver’s license.

• Documented mechanical aptitude or formal mechanical education; preference given to those with process knowledge of upgrader, refinery or petrochemical units.
• Understanding of refinery piping circuits and PFD drawings of the application (strong mechanical aptitude).
• Valid passport or willingness to obtain one.

The Company requires passing a pre‑employment physical in which an objective medical professional will determine whether you can safely meet the physical demands of the position.

• Duration of work hours during project executions:
  Typically, 12 continuous hours that may extend up to 16–18 hours if an emergent need exists, for up to 14 days in a row.
• Day shift and/or night shift.
• Working conditions during project executions: uneven or unstable ground, and wet, muddy, or slippery surfaces and footings.
• Outside locations in extreme temperatures and weather conditions including wind, rain, snow, and other inclement weather.
• Routine, intermittent exposure to noise > 85 dBA‑TWA.
• Physical demands: work at heights up to 150 ft/45 m accessed via stairs, climbing ladders, or critical lifts by cranes.
• Lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs., without assistance.
• Pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs., without assistance.
• Standing and walking for up to 12–16 hours daily with minimal rest breaks; may exceed 10,000–15,000 steps per day.
• Bending and stooping repeatedly and performing tasks including twisting or turning valves and using wrenches and hand tools.

Depending on region, travel requirements can vary. Ability to travel 50–100 overnights per year to multiple North American markets to support a growing list of clients. Out‑of‑town assignments can range from 3–15 days in length.

The salary range for this position is from $77,000 – $105,000. The applicable base pay range will be contingent on the primary work location, the complexity and responsibility of the role, and the candidate’s relevant experience and skills.
