Position Summary

The Low-Voltage Conduit Installer is responsible for installing conduit systems that support commercial fire alarm, access control, security, CCTV, structured cabling, audio-visual, DAS/ERRCS, and other low-voltage systems. This position installs EMT, rigid, flexible, and other raceway systems in accordance with approved project drawings, applicable codes, manufacturer requirements, and company quality standards.

The Conduit Installer works closely with Foremen, Project Managers, Low-Voltage Technicians, and other construction trades to ensure conduit systems are installed safely, accurately, and efficiently in support of project schedules.

Conduit Installation

  • Install EMT, rigid, flexible, and other approved raceway systems for low-voltage applications.
  • Measure, cut, thread, bend, and install conduit using hand tools, mechanical benders, hydraulic benders, and power tools.
  • Install conduit systems for:
    • Fire alarm systems
    • Access control systems
    • CCTV systems
    • Security systems
    • Structured cabling
    • Audio-visual systems
    • DAS/ERRCS systems
    • Other low-voltage communication systems
  • Install conduit in ceilings, walls, slabs, equipment rooms, riser rooms, parking structures, and other commercial building environments.
  • Ensure conduit routing minimizes conflicts with other building systems while maintaining code compliance and serviceability.

Project Layout & Coordination

  • Read and interpret:
    • Construction drawings
    • Shop drawings
    • Floor plans
    • Riser diagrams
    • Specifications
    • Installation details
  • Lay out conduit pathways according to project drawings and field conditions.
  • Coordinate conduit installation with other trades to avoid conflicts.
  • Notify supervision of field conflicts, design discrepancies, or constructability concerns.
  • Assist with layout revisions when required.

Supports & Raceway Systems

  • Install conduit supports, strut, trapeze supports, anchors, sleeves, and mounting hardware.
  • Secure conduit in accordance with NEC requirements and company standards.
  • Maintain proper spacing, support intervals, expansion fittings, and installation clearances.
  • Install sleeves and penetrations as required.
  • Assist Low-Voltage Technicians with pulling cable after conduit installation.
  • Install pull strings and raceway identification.
  • Verify conduit pathways are clean, continuous, and ready for cable installation.
  • Assist with installation of junction boxes, pull boxes, cabinets, and equipment back boxes.

Quality Control

  • Ensure conduit installations meet:
    • National Electrical Code (NEC)
    • Local building codes
    • Project specifications
    • Manufacturer recommendations
    • Company quality standards
  • Verify conduit is properly aligned, securely supported, and free from damage.
  • Maintain clean, professional workmanship throughout each project.

Safety

  • Follow all Coastal Fire & Integration Systems safety policies and procedures.
  • Comply with OSHA regulations, General Contractor safety requirements, and jobsite safety rules.
  • Properly wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and injuries immediately.
  • Safely operate ladders, scaffolding, lifts, and power tools.

Teamwork & Communication

  • Work closely with Project Managers, Foremen, Low-Voltage Technicians, and other construction personnel.
  • Communicate project progress, material needs, and field issues promptly.
  • Assist team members as needed to support project completion.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and a positive attitude when interacting with customers, contractors, inspectors, and coworkers.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of commercial conduit installation experience
    , preferably supporting low-voltage systems.
  • Experience installing EMT conduit required.
  • Experience with rigid conduit, flexible conduit, and commercial raceway systems preferred.
  • Experience working on commercial construction projects.
