The Intermodal Dispatch Customer Service role is a full-time, on-site position based in Carson, CA. This role coordinates daily intermodal shipments, schedules and dispatches drivers, and monitors load status to ensure on-time pickups and deliveries. The position responds to customer inquiries, provides shipment updates, and resolves service issues professionally and promptly. Responsibilities include updating transportation management systems, maintaining accurate documentation, and communicating with carriers, terminals, and internal teams.
The role also supports problem-solving for exceptions such as delays, accessorials, and equipment issues while maintaining strong customer relationships and service standards.
- Experience in dispatch, intermodal operations, or transportation/logistics customer service, with the ability to coordinate loads, drivers, and schedules.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with customers, drivers, carriers, and internal teams in a clear and professional manner.
- Proficiency with computers and transportation management systems (TMS), along with solid data entry and documentation skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, including attention to detail, multitasking, and prioritizing work in a fast-paced environment.
- Problem-solving skills to handle shipment exceptions, service issues, and time-sensitive requests while maintaining customer satisfaction.
- Knowledge of basic freight, intermodal, and warehouse terminology; familiarity with hazmat or TSA requirements is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in logistics, supply chain, or a related field is beneficial.
- Ability to work on-site in Carson, CA, with reliability in attendance and willingness to adapt to operational needs and schedule changes.
