Please note this is a 2nd shift position with a Monday-Friday schedule of working 3PM to 11:30PM.
Our Quality Assurance/Control (QA/QC) team is growing, and we are seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to join our team. The QA Tech plays a critical supporting role for QA engineers, QC lab operations, and Bruker OST’s manufacturing operations. This person will be responsible for performing testing on in-process and final product samples using standard laboratory methods and procedures and comparing those results against product and customer standards to ensure proper quality controls.
This person will also provide physical and analytical support to resolve process and product problems and to enable new product and process developments. The perfect candidate for this role should tend to view quality and testing from a holistic/macro lens as well as a detail/micro lens. This position reports to the Quality Manager.
- Support Quality Engineers/Manager in:
- Establishing and improving superconductor testing systems in QC Laboratories.
- Reviewing QC data for approval of material.
- Creating QA certificates for customers.
- Providing customer (internal and external) support.
- Conducting post-mortem analysis of product defect and failure.
- Investigating root-cause and propose effective corrective actions.
- Improvement projects to modernize test equipment and system.
- Updating procedures or practices within the manufacturing and QC test process.
- Conduct precise and accurate routine analytical testing (including, but not limited to, cryogenic, metallographic, and microscopy processes, instrumentation, and measurement tools).
- Compare analytical test results against established standards to ensure proper quality controls are upheld.
- Maintaining a high standard of laboratory operating conditions regarding equipment, validity of calibration standards, housekeeping (7S), analytical records, etc. by adhering to established standards.
- Ensure compliance to all Environmental, Health, and Safety policies, laws, and regulations as they apply to laboratory function and operation.
- Perform process audits to identify any issues or potential defects and elevate findings to the appropriate teams and discuss and support in identifying possible resolutions.
- Support and champion the Bruker core values of safety, innovation, continuous improvement, and organizational excellence.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus three to five years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Safety first attitude by following safety rules at all times.
- Certificate in quality assurance (preferably Certified Quality Technician from ASQ) is a plus.
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
- Self-motivated and technologically curious.
- Proficiency in statistical tools, including Six Sigma methodology.
- Strong reasoning ability and excellent practical skills to resolve day-to-day laboratory and production operational issues.
- Dynamic and willing to challenge established norms.
- Working knowledge of tools, methods, and concepts of quality assurance.
- Willingness to work with electrical components, cryogenic liquids, and metallography chemicals.
- Ability to use hand tools, both electrical and manual, in a safe manner.
- Ability to work well independently, as well as in a team, in a fast-paced, lean/six sigma manufacturing environment.
