Inspector I Petroleum - Carteret, NJ

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is actively seeking an Inspector I Petroleum to join the Caleb Brett team in Carteret, NJ.

• Understand and adhere to Caleb Brett safety procedures.
• Perform duties including volume measurement, temperature measurement, and sampling of commodity materials in lines, shore tanks, rail cars, tank trucks, and vessels; custody transfer surveys of commodities; routine equipment calibration, verification and function checks; verification and communication of results and entry into appropriate media; on‑job assistance and training from experienced inspectors; communication and coordination with terminal, transport and company personnel; monitor supply availability and report needs;
  
  organize and coordinate jobs so that services are rendered and reports and samples are submitted promptly; maintain work areas, records and equipment in clean, organized condition.

The inspector will work six consecutive days followed by two days off on an on‑call/as needed basis, including holidays and weekends. The position requires at least 30% travel.

The base wage ranges from $20.00 to $25.00 per hour, based on skill set, experience, qualifications and other job‑related factors. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k) with company match, generous vacation/sick time (PTO), tuition reimbursement and more.

• Basic mathematics, including fractions, and ability to work in an automated environment.
• No experience required.
• Availability to work on‑call, including weekends and holidays.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
• Reliable personal transportation; a work vehicle is provided for business use only.
• Must obtain or already possess a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
• Adhere to Intertek’s 10X Energies business practices.
• Observe safety practices and policies to ensure personal and others’ safety.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, multi‑tasking environment with shifting priorities.
• Detail‑oriented with effective prioritization and time‑management skills.
• Strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills.

• Ability to travel as business needs dictate.

• Existing TWIC credentials.
• 3 to 6 months experience as a Petroleum Inspector.
