Minimum QualificationsMinimum high school diploma or GED with 3 or more years successful experience in similar field;
OR Associate's degree in accounting or other business-related field with 3 or more years successful experience in related business field;
OR B.S. or B.A. in accounting or other business-related field with 2 or more years successful experience in related business area. Word processing and computer skills.
Terms of Employment240-day annual position, Exempt. FY 2026 Classified Salary Schedule, pay grade 21, step determined by relevant work experience. Salary Schedules
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Responsible for providing assistance to Chief Financial Officer and direction to school bookkeepers in the administration of accounting functions
- Assists in issuing accounts payable checks and purchasing card payments
- Processes required 1099s for the school system
- Assists with annual state reporting, including Transparency in Government Act Report and Salary and Travel Report
- Assists in all areas of accounting activities including processing of requisitions, purchase orders, journal entries, cash receipts, year-end closing, and preparing, submitting items to auditors
- Assists in requisition of available grant funds
- Manages Capital Asset inventory
- Reconciles bank accounts and statements for the school system, as directed
- Prepares monthly maintenance reports for the Superintendent and school board
- Reviews all travel for adherence to state travel regulations
- Maintains all records for system capital projects
- Provides direction to school bookkeepers regarding school-based accounting
- Responsible for posting all Request for Proposals and bids to the district web site
- Assists in preparing and updating budgets for the system
- Performs monthly balancing of accounts
- Prepares After-School Program monthly report
- Complies with any reasonable oral or written directive from the Chief Financial Officer or his/her designee, other appropriate administrator
