Summary
As Permitting & EHS Engineer, you will serve as the primary technical authority for permitting, environmental, and safety frameworks for large-scale manufacturing fab projects in the U.S. This role requires a sophisticated understanding of both international project coordination and local U.S. regulatory landscapes. You will act as the critical link between HQ leadership and site-level execution, ensuring all engineering and construction activities align with legal and safety mandates.
Responsibilities- Permit Strategy &
Risk Management:
Conduct comprehensive pre-reviews of permitting requirements; identify and mitigate regulatory risks throughout the project lifecycle (Design, Construction, and Operation). - Regulatory Liaison:
Act as the direct point of contact for Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and local consultants to facilitate permit applications and timely acquisitions. - Technical Oversight:
Provide high-level technical review of design and construction deliverables from external vendors to ensure alignment with project goals and U.S. codes. - Compliance Framework:
Establish and manage the Permit Matrix and schedule; monitor onsite EHS regulatory compliance and support vendor adherence to these standards. - HQ-Site Integration:
Facilitate technical communication and decision-making between the Seoul HQ and the U.S. site, ensuring global standards meet local requirements. - Operational Monitoring:
Oversee permit condition compliance and manage all necessary follow-up actions to maintain the legal standing of the facility.
- Experience:
Minimum of 10 years in technical permitting, EHS, or industrial plant project management. - Regulatory Expertise:
Strong working knowledge of U.S. codes and regulations, including:- IBC (International Building Code)
- NFPA (National Fire Protection Association)
- IFC (International Fire Code)
- EPA/EPD (Environmental Protection Agency / Environmental Protection Division)
- Project Management:
Proven ability to operate a complex permit matrix and manage multi-phase schedules in a fast-paced environment. - Communication:
Fluent in English with the ability to lead technical discussions and coordinate effectively with local U.S. consultants and authorities. - Analytical
Skills:
Expert-level capability in permit analysis and reviewing complex technical deliverables.
- U.S. Project Footprint:
Direct experience managing U.S.
-based manufacturing or industrial plant construction projects. - Specialized Environmental Knowledge:
Hands-on experience with PSM (Process Safety Management), WWT (Wastewater Treatment), and complex environmental regulatory project completions. - Cross-Cultural
Competency:
Experience working within a Korean-U.S. corporate structure is highly valued.
Note on Assignment:
This role involves a strategic split between the Seoul HQ for initial planning/alignment and a long-term assignment to the U.S. project site for execution and authority coordination.
