About the Motor Vehicle Parts Manufacturing Company / The OpportunityJoin a dynamic company in the motor vehicle parts manufacturing industry focused on producing reliable components for automotive markets. This Electrical Control Engineer role supports the electrical engineering team by designing, installing, and maintaining control systems and production machinery to ensure high process capability and uptime. The position offers hands-on ownership of projects from concept through implementation, close collaboration with maintenance and production teams, and direct engagement with vendors and contractors on-site in Cartersville, GA.
Responsibilities- Design, test, install, and maintain large-scale electrical and control systems for manufacturing machinery.
- Program, troubleshoot, and modify PLC and servo control programs with emphasis on motion controllers.
- Develop and modify electrical controls and systems to improve reliability and production efficiency.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, maintenance, and engineering teams to specify, procure, and install equipment and parts.
- Lead and manage project activities from concept through fabrication, testing, and implementation.
- Perform diagnostics and repairs to the component level, including calibration of electrical systems and validation testing.
- Evaluate installations, recommend design modifications, and apply engineering analyses and statistical methods to ensure equipment meets manufacturing requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET) and a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical systems to the component level.
- Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting skills, with experience on Mitsubishi PLCs and motion controllers.
- Experience with servo systems and the ability to read, interpret, troubleshoot, and modify complex PLC and servo programs.
- Demonstrated capability to design or modify electrical controls and systems to improve reliability and productivity.
- Experience performing calibration, equipment testing, and validation of electrical systems.
- Strong project management, communication, and vendor coordination skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Utilities experience, instrumentation knowledge, and CAD programming (listed as plusses).
- Experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing environments and familiarity with related quality standards.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and networked automation systems (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus).
- Experience with robotics and advanced motion control systems beyond basic PLC logic.
- Hands-on experience with computer-assisted electrical design tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical) and vendor equipment evaluation.
