Job DescriptionSpecimen Technician - Hospital - Cartersville, GA, Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM
Pay range: $17.75+ per hour
Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

The Hospital Specimen Associate is responsible for the preparation of patient specimens in a hospital location where multiple Hospital Specimen Associates work together with minimal direction. The role requires following pre-analytical processing procedures with accuracy and timeliness. The responsibilities below are specific to samples processed by Quest laboratory testing.
ResponsibilitiesSpecimen Processing & Test Send Out Responsibilities
- Demonstrates proficiency in test ordering policies, hospital processing procedures, specimen requirements for test ordering, sample preparation, and compliance requirements.
- Knowledge and competency of Hospital LIS system (client specific)
- Print Quest performed testing reports
- Interpret specimen flow/tracking data using available reports and resources
- Manage supply ordering processes
- Performs remote accessioning (pre-accessioning), client specific
Problem Resolution Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to specimen types, missing information, TIQ, TNP, additional sample requests, and other client issues.
Customer Service Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service as the liaison between customer and Quest Diagnostics laboratory
- Manage inbound calls with positive client interactions
- Communicate effectively with hospital laboratory staff, Quest Diagnostics sales team, and other functions
- Share information about problem solving with specimens, test cancellations, testing requirements, and billing with hospital staff
