Shipping Lead – 2nd Shift – $26.00/hour plus $1.00/hr shift differential

We are looking for a Shipping Lead to be based out of Cartersville, GA. Reporting to the Shipping Supervisor, this person will perform many forklift driver duties while leading others and participating in shipping, receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing, and delivering a variety of materials, equipment, and supplies. The role works with independence and limited supervision and is expected to have experience in lean manufacturing or a business system‑based company.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the activities of subordinates
  • Actively participate in the safety program
  • Cross‑train in different areas of the Shipping Department as required
  • Ensure all processes are carried out with required safety controls and PPE
  • Work in a fast‑paced, high‑speed environment while following standardized work and adhering to safe work practices in a continuous improvement setting
  • Load material onto trucks safely
  • Maintain inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock, and recording location of inventory
  • Locate materials and supplies by pulling and verifying items listed on production orders
  • Maintain in‑process inventory at work centers by delivering and opening materials and supplies
  • Document materials and supplies disposition by recording units delivered and location of units
  • Receive credit‑return material and supplies from production by verifying code, lot number, and quantity; place materials in stock
  • Prepare finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product
  • Document product shipment by recording units shipped
  • Maintain material‑handling equipment by completing pre‑use inspections and making operator repairs
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Maintain housekeeping and sanitation standards
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Two years of shipping/receiving experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education that has produced comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Two years of PIT operation experience preferred
  • Ability to read a tape measure
  • Ability to work the scheduled Monday‑Friday shift
  • Ability to stand and work a 10‑hour shift in a non‑climate‑controlled manufacturing environment
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed
  • Detail‑oriented
  • Knowledge of computerized or automated system operations preferred
  • Knowledge of record‑keeping practices preferred
  • Knowledge of safety practices
  • Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles preferred
  • Skills in operating automotive, materials‑handling, and office equipment
  • Skills in lifting heavy packages and objects
  • Time management
