Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and an active GA or Compact RN license.
Responsibilities- ICU position in a hospital setting
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
- Epic EMR preferred
- Preferred experience in Neuro ICU, Surgical ICU, and cardiovascular settings
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates who have previously worked at this health system must have been away for a minimum of 1 full year from all system facilities before returning as a traveler
- Local candidates are accepted
- RTO is capped at 7 days; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
- Holiday coverage policy: if 1 or 2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work all of them and no holiday RTO may be requested; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work 2 of them and one holiday RTO request may be submitted for approval
- Major holidays include:
Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day - No alternate shift or schedule change requests are permitted — the listed shift is firm
- Preferred skills include:
Neuro ICU care (EVD, ICP monitoring, post-neurosurgery, CVA/stroke management), cardiovascular care (IABP, cardiac cath pre/post, sheath removal), ventilator management, ABG interpretation, vasoactive and cardiac drip titration, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, arterial line and central line management, PICC line care, port access, blood product administration, IV insulin protocols, and wound vac management
- Active GA or Compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required (hard stop)
- Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
- NIHSS certification required
- Copies of all required certifications must be provided for consideration
- Two supervisory references (Manager level or above; charge nurse references not accepted) are highly preferred
- Epic EMR experience preferred
