Position Summary

OccuMedX is seeking an experienced and motivated Occupational Health Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive occupational health services. This position is responsible for delivering high‑quality clinical care, injury management, OSHA‑compliant documentation, health surveillance, wellness initiatives, and client support while helping maintain a safe and productive work environment.

The Occupational Health RN serves as the primary healthcare resource for construction workers, working closely with project management, safety professionals, case managers, and OccuMedX leadership to reduce OSHA recordables, improve employee outcomes, and ensure exceptional client service.

Job Responsibilities Clinical Care
  • Assess, evaluate, and treat occupational injuries and illnesses within the RN scope of practice.
  • Perform first aid, emergency stabilization, triage, and determine the appropriate level of care.
  • Recognize medical emergencies and activate EMS when indicated.
  • Conduct focused physical assessments and document findings accurately.
  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician standing orders, company protocols, and state nursing regulations.
  • Perform wound care, splinting, burn treatment, eye irrigation, and other occupational health procedures.
  • Monitor employees returning for follow‑up evaluations.
Occupational Health Services
  • Perform fit‑for‑duty evaluations within established protocols.
  • Conduct respirator clearances, hearing conservation activities, vision screening, and other occupational health surveillance activities.
  • Assist with drug and alcohol testing in accordance with DOT, OSHA, client, and company policies.
  • Participate in wellness initiatives including blood pressure screenings, hydration education, heat illness prevention, ergonomic education, and health promotion activities.
  • Maintain clinic readiness including medication inventory, emergency equipment, and medical supplies.
Case Management
  • Coordinate care with OccuMedX Case Management for all reportable injuries.
  • Communicate with treating providers regarding work restrictions and return‑to‑work status.
  • Assist in developing modified duty recommendations.
  • Monitor employee progress until released to full duty.
  • Support early intervention strategies to reduce lost time injuries.
Documentation & Compliance
  • Complete accurate, thorough, and timely electronic medical documentation.
  • Ensure documentation meets OSHA, HIPAA, company, and client requirements.

    Submit injury documentation within established company time frames.
  • Maintain confidential employee medical records.
  • Participate in internal quality assurance audits.
Client & Safety Partnership
  • Develop strong working relationships with client leadership and project teams.
  • Participate in site safety meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Assist with identifying injury trends and recommending preventive measures.
  • Promote a culture of safety and injury prevention.
  • Serve as a trusted healthcare resource for employees and site leadership.
Operational Responsibilities
  • Maintain daily clinic operations.
  • Order and monitor medical supplies and medications.
  • Inspect emergency equipment and clinic readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with state nursing regulations and company clinical protocols.
  • Participate in continuing education and required company training.
Required Qualifications
  • Current unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the state of practice (multi‑state compact license preferred).
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Minimum of 2 years of RN experience.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Strong assessment and clinical decision‑making skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Occupational Health experience.
  • Construction, industrial, manufacturing, or emergency nursing experience.
  • Emergency Department, Urgent Care, Trauma, or Critical Care background.
  • Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN or COHN‑S).
  • ACLS certification.
  • NIOSH Spirometry Certification.
  • DOT Urine Drug Screen Collector Certification.
