SummaryThe Manager in Training supports the Store Manager in all operational and administrative duties. The role requires a deep knowledge of each store department, promotes customer service excellence, and steps into supervisory responsibilities when the Store Manager is absent.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett I City Gear.
- Consult with the Store Manager to establish action plans for departmental and overall store objectives, including selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
- Assume responsibility for the entire store during the Store Manager’s absence.
- Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across all departments when necessary.
- Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability in all departments.
- Direct staff to complete departmental responsibilities and standards.
- Inform the Store Manager about inventory movements and customer trends.
- Maintain quality customer service in accordance with the customer service manual.
- Perform general administrative duties and be trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
- Promote and sell services and merchandise offered by Hibbett I City Gear.
- Adhere to all Hibbett I City Gear policies, procedures, and standards as detailed in the operations, personnel, visual, and customer service manuals.
- Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring effective internal controls and reporting potential fraud risks.
- Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager, following organizational policies and applicable laws.
- Interview, train, plan, assign, and direct work, and resolve problems related to employee performance.
- Experience in a retail environment, preferably footwear and athletic apparel.
- 1–3 years of customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to assist in managing a team and maintain overall goals and profitability.
- Self‑starter with initiative to undertake important tasks independently.
- Strong attention to detail and capability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with precision.
- Team‑player passionate about outstanding customer service and merchandise sales.
