Description

The Warehouse Lead is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for overseeing daily shipping, receiving, inventory, and general warehouse operations. This position leads small teams of warehouse associates while actively participating in daily work, ensuring accurate inventory control, safe and efficient material handling, and well‑maintained tools and equipment. The Warehouse Lead serves as the primary on‑the‑floor leader, providing direction, oversight, and problem resolution to support operational goals.

Requirements

Operational Leadership & Team Oversight
  • Lead, coordinate, and oversee daily warehouse activities across shipping, receiving, inventory, and material movement
  • Provide direct leadership and oversight of small warehouse teams (When applicable), setting clear expectations and monitoring performance
  • Assign daily work priorities, communicate instructions, and ensure balanced workload distribution
  • Actively work alongside the team and/or other Warehouse Leads, performing warehouse tasks.
  • Monitor productivity, quality, and workflow; adjust priorities as needed to meet operational demands
  • Identify and resolve operational issues, staffing gaps, or workflow bottlenecks
Shipping & Receiving Operations
  • Oversee all inbound and outbound shipments from receipt through put‑away or shipment
  • Inspect, verify, and document incoming materials against packing slips and purchase orders and Operational BOMs
  • Ensure shipments are prepared accurately, on time, and in compliance with customer and company requirements
  • Audit receipts and shipments; investigate, document, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support or complete local deliveries as assigned
Inventory Control & Stock Accuracy
  • Own and support overall inventory accuracy, including daily checks, cycle counts, and periodic physical inventories
  • Lead/perform stock count activities, ensuring counts are completed accurately and on schedule
  • Ensure materials are properly labeled, stored, and rotated according to SOPs
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using WMS, RF scanners, and reporting tools and trackers.
Tool, Equipment & Workspace Maintenance
  • Oversee the condition and availability of warehouse tools, equipment, and material‑handling devices
  • Ensure forklifts, pallet jacks, scanners, and tools are used properly maintained and in safe working conditions
  • Identify equipment issues and coordinate repairs, replacements, or maintenance as needed
  • Promote and maintain 7S/housekeeping standards, ensuring a clean, organized, and efficient workspace
Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, coach, and support warehouse associates through hands‑on guidance and example
  • Provide on‑the‑floor training, reinforcement of procedures, and real‑time feedback
  • Assist with onboarding and cross‑training to build flexible, capable teams
  • Promote accountability, teamwork, and a positive work culture within the warehouse
Safety, Quality & Compliance
  • Enforce company policies related to safety, quality, attendance, and conduct
  • Ensure consistent PPE usage and safe equipment operation
  • Conduct routine safety checks and immediately address unsafe conditions or behaviours
  • Participate in safety audits, incident reporting, and corrective action efforts
Process Improvement & Communication
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, safety, and inventory control
  • Support implementation of process improvements and best practices
  • Act as a communication bridge between warehouse associates and management
  • Provide updates, reports, and documentation related to operations, inventory, and staffing
Experience & Skills
  • 2+ years of warehouse experience, including shipping, receiving, and inventory responsibilities
  • Prior experience leading or overseeing small teams preferred
  • Strong understanding of inventory control, stock counts, and warehouse workflows
  • Proven ability to lead by example in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment
  • Effective communicator with strong organizational and problem‑solving skills
  • Experience using WMS, scanners, and warehouse reporting tools
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required
Physical & Work Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift 40–50 lbs. regularly
  • Comfortably working in a warehouse environment with noise, dust, heat, and cold
  • Manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination required
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including 40–50+ hours per week based on business needs
  • Steel‑toed footwear and required PPE must be worn
