Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and organised Clinical Administrator to join our Pain Management Team. This role is ideal for an individual with strong administrative skills, excellent communication abilities and the confidence to deal with patients in sensitive and sometimes challenging situations.
As a Clinical Administrator, you will play a vital role in supporting Consultants, Specialist Nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team by providing a comprehensive and efficient administrative service. You will be a key point of contact for patients, relatives and external services, ensuring that clinics and patient pathways run smoothly.
This post involves regular telephone and electronic contact with patients, including individuals who may be distressed, anxious, frustrated, or experiencing long-term pain. The successful candidate must demonstrate empathy, professionalism and resilience when managing difficult conversations, while maintaining confidentiality and Trust standards at all times.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide a high quality administrative support to the Pain Management clinical team, acting as a primary point of contact for patients and external stakeholders. Responsibilities include managing patient and external enquiries by telephone and email in a professional and sensitive manner; communicating clinic appointments, admissions and other service information; coordinating clinic and theatre bookings. Daily monitoring and responding to email inboxes and voicemail messages;
undertaking clinic typing, data entry and maintaining accurate electronic patient records; attending meetings and producing accurate minutes when required; and liaising closely with GP practices, hospital departments and external NHS organisations.
The role involves exercising judgement to appropriately elevate complex or sensitive issues, particularly when dealing with distressed, irate or bereaved patients, and providing cover for the Team Leader and other Clinical Administrator roles across the Department as required.
