- Basic computer knowledge (Word, Excel, and Internet)
- Good typing skills
- Able to multi‑task and be flexible
- Able to make quick decisions and handle various situations
- Assist in keeping the counseling office running smoothly and efficiently while maintaining a friendly and pleasant attitude
- Support faculty, staff, and parents in whatever situation arises with complete confidentiality and professionalism
- Assist counselors in various office tasks
- Manually post summer school grades
- Manually post VLC and online classes and grades
- Help prepare master schedule & assist with student scheduling
- Prepare transcripts/mail transcripts to colleges
- Prepare progress reports and grade cards and help teachers troubleshoot gradebook problems
- Answer and direct phone calls for counselors
- Serve as mediator between faculty, staff, parents and the counselors
- Help with the scholarship book and awards night
- Direct students on how to sign up for the ACT and assist with waivers
- Prepare mailings to students/parents
- Assist counselors in preparing for AP and other testing, including collection of fees and processing of payments
- Create & send passes/reminders to students for various programs
- Schedule college & military representative visits
- Oversee student workers in the counseling office
- Assist in new student enrollment process
- File & maintain testing data
- Assist MSSU and Crowder College Talent Search/Upward Bound representatives
- Carry out all other duties as assigned
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand or sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must be able to lift 25 pounds.
AttendanceRegular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.
Conditions and EnvironmentThe individual who holds this position will regularly work in a school environment that is noisy and active. Occasionally the individual will be required to work outdoors for short periods of time to perform such tasks as loading and unloading students from district transportation and supervising recess.
