Diesel Technician​/Mechanic III - Entry Level

Ready to accelerate your career while helping our customers move forward? As a Technician at Penske, you’ll perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on our well‑maintained fleet of vehicles. You will keep customers’ vehicles in shape and on the road.

• Ensuring vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers
• Using Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics
• Performing preventative maintenance repairs—such as replacing or rotating tires—and completing vehicle component lubrication and replacement, some electrical system repairs, and cooling system maintenance on gas and diesel engine vehicles
• Partnering with your manager to learn new skills through Penske’s technician training and hands‑on coaching

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred
• Basic mechanical aptitude and 1‑2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred)
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to solve problems and comfortable using tools
• Excellent customer service skills and communication skills
• Ability to work well as part of a team and independently
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to understand and comply with Penske management’s specific instructions, guidelines, rules, regulations, or other information
• Adherence to DOT, OSHA, and all Penske safety and maintenance policies, including correct selection and use of appropriate tools, PPE, machine guarding, and established best safety practices
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is essential
• Requires a current driver qualification file as mandated by the DOT, including an annual MVR check, a completed DOT Physical, and safety performance history records from prior employers in the last 3 years; CDL holders must also undergo a DOT drug screening within 30 days of start
• Willingness to work the required schedule, specific location, complete Penske employment application, submit to background screening (including criminal, employment, and education checks), pass a drug screen and physical, and potentially travel within a near geography for training

• Must move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods throughout the job
• Regular use of hands to grasp, reach, touch, handle, feel, or otherwise operate required tools or controls
• Ability to work safely at heights using ladders and elevated platforms
• Ability to work safely in all weather conditions
• Must be able to see and hear to safely navigate the work environment with frequent movement of large trucks
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and occasionally up to 100 lbs (45 kg); must be able to push/pull truck tires that exceed 100 lbs

Pay: $21.75

Hours:

6:30 am to 5:00 pm; days off Tuesday, Friday & Saturday

Second shift start times after 11:00 am are eligible for a $2.00 per hour shift differential.

Third shift start times after 9:00 pm are eligible for a $3.00 per hour shift differential.
