General Laborer – Pipe Laying and Utility Construction
Aerotek is hiring immediately for a site laborer! This role supports large civil construction projects with a strong focus on pipe laying for water, sewer, drainage, and related utilities. The general laborer works on foundation and utility installations, assisting with excavation, pipe fitting, and site preparation. The position requires reliable travel to various job sites and consistent work on outdoor projects that support critical town and municipal infrastructure.

- Perform pipe laying work on commercial job sites for water, sewer, drainage, electrical, and telephone utilities.
- Support foundation work, including site preparation, back filling, and cleanup around utility installations.
- Assist with installation of gravity sewer mains, sewer force mains, and sewer pump station components as directed.
- Work alongside equipment operators and utility crews to ensure safe and efficient excavation and pipe placement.
- Use hand tools and shovels to complete light grading, trench preparation, and compaction around pipes and foundations.
- Follow site plans, directions, and layouts provided by supervisors and forepersons to complete assigned tasks.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper handling of tools, materials, and equipment.
- Arrive at assigned job sites on time and work a typical schedule of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., adjusting as needed based on project requirements.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and site rules while working around heavy equipment and active construction areas.
- Collaborate with team members in the field to complete large-scale municipal and town projects on schedule.
- At least 3 years of experience working with water and sewer utilities on construction projects.
- At least 3 years of pipe laying experience on commercial job sites.
- Hands-on experience with foundation work in a construction environment.
- Experience with sewer and water installations, including underground piping systems.
- Ability to perform construction and industrial labor outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Familiarity with excavation and utility labor tasks, including working in and around trenches.
- Basic pipe fitting skills related to water, sewer, and drainage installations.
- Ability to work safely around heavy equipment and active construction operations.
- Capability to perform physical labor, including lifting, shoveling, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliable transportation to travel to various job sites and consistently arrive on time for a 7:00 a.m. start.

This is a 100% outdoor role based on construction sites, primarily on the South Shore and not in the city. Work is performed on town and municipal projects, often on large, active job sites with multiple crews and heavy equipment in operation. Typical hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with potential for schedule adjustments based on project needs. The environment involves working in and around excavations, utilities, and dirt work, requiring appropriate workwear suitable for outdoor construction conditions, including sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate clothing.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carver, MA. The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $35.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
