Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Cary, Illinois

Make a real impact supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing as a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter in a vibrant school environment near Cary, IL. This full-time, contract-based assignment runs from August 19 through June 3 and offers a rewarding opportunity to facilitate communication and learning for a single student throughout the academic year. With onsite hours from 7:55am to 2:40pm, youll collaborate closely with teachers and staff to ensure an inclusive educational experience.

• National or state certification in Sign Language Interpretation (such as EIPA, RID, or state licensure)
• Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably within a school setting
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Comfortable providing 1:1 interpreting services in classroom and school environments
• Strong understanding of student confidentiality and professional boundaries
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to the full academic year

• Deliver clear, accurate sign language interpretation for a designated student throughout the school day
• Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, support staff, and administrators
• Modify signing style and vocabulary according to student needs and age level
• Foster a positive, supportive atmosphere to encourage student engagement and independence
• Maintain professional records and participate in educational team meetings as required
