Sign Language Interpreter in Cary, IL

Make a meaningful difference every day by supporting communication access for students as an onsite Sign Language Interpreter for the  academic year. This full-time contract opportunity offers the chance to work within an engaging and supportive educational environment, collaborating with dedicated professionals to enrich classroom experiences for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students.

• Valid state licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter, meeting all current requirements for this discipline
• Compliance with any state or district-specific certifications or credentials as needed (such as PEL or Para Cert, if applicable)
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a thorough understanding of Deaf culture
• Previous school-based or K-12 experience is highly desirable
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, students, and families

• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities between students and staff according to interpreter ethics and confidentiality standards
• Support student engagement in both academic and extracurricular settings
• Adjust interpreting techniques to suit individual student communication needs and classroom requirements
• Consult regularly with teachers and special education teams to ensure seamless accommodations
• Keep accurate records and participate in IEP meetings or other required documentation processes as needed
