1st Shift Machine Builder / Industrial Assembly Technician
Northwest Chicago Suburbs | Day Shift | Unlimited OT
Tek Pro is partnering with an established industrial equipment manufacturer in the Northwest Chicago suburbs to hire experienced Machine Builders. This is a full-time first shift opportunity with a standard 40-hour work week and the option to work up to 60 hours per week for those interested in overtime.
Position OverviewThis role is responsible for the mechanical assembly, installation, testing, and startup of custom-built industrial equipment used in demanding production environments. Candidates should possess strong mechanical aptitude, blueprint reading skills, and experience assembling large machinery and complex mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities- Assemble, fit, and install mechanical components and systems using blueprints, engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and work orders.
- Construct, rebuild, troubleshoot, and repair industrial equipment and machinery.
- Safely operate overhead cranes, jib cranes, forklifts, and various pneumatic and hand tools.
- Identify assembly issues and work collaboratively to develop practical solutions.
- Perform work in a fast-paced, custom manufacturing environment with a wide variety of equipment configurations.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments including tape measures, calipers, gauges, and other inspection tools.
- Accurately interpret measurements and dimensional specifications.
- Record production, assembly, and inspection data within computerized business systems.
- Follow proper rigging and lifting procedures while maintaining a safe work environment.
- Conduct equipment testing and startup procedures, making adjustments as required to ensure proper operation.
- Adhere to company policies, quality standards, and established work procedures.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of three years of mechanical assembly, machine building, maintenance, or related industrial experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and assembly blueprints.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Must provide a basic set of hand tools.
- Experience with welding, hydraulics, pneumatics, or industrial electrical systems is a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and work in physically demanding positions including climbing, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Strong attention to detail, dependability, and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a manufacturing environment.
