Caster / Foundry Worker
Location: Cary, IL
Schedule:
- 1st Shift: Monday-Friday | 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
- 2nd
Shift: Monday-Friday | 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM
Reports To: Foundry Supervisor
Pay: $20.00-$21.00/hour + shift premiums
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Caster / Foundry Worker to support aluminum casting operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for preparing molds, melting and pouring aluminum, maintaining equipment, and ensuring all castings meet strict quality and safety standards.
This is a hands-on role in a hot, industrial environment requiring strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety and quality.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and preheat permanent and sand molds for casting operations
- Install heating elements and prepare molds for production
- Pack sand molds and set up casting forms
- Monitor furnace temperatures and molten metal conditions
- Melt aluminum and add alloys to meet specifications
- Pour aluminum into molds with accuracy and consistency
- Cut risers and gates to support proper metal flow
- Inspect molds and finished castings for defects
- Conduct quality checks throughout the casting process
- Clean, maintain, and operate furnaces and foundry equipment
- Move materials and maintain workflow throughout the foundry
- Maintain accurate records of materials used (sand, metals, alloys)
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- 1+ year of manufacturing experience preferred (foundry experience strongly preferred)
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Ability to read work orders, scales, rulers, and blueprints
- Experience using hand tools (hammers, saws, chisels, wrenches, pliers, etc.)
- Ability to use measuring tools (calipers, micrometers)
- Comfortable reading digital thermometers and monitoring equipment temperatures
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Forklift experience is a plus
- Strong focus on safety and quality standards
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
Base Pay: $20.00-$21.00/hour (1st shift, October-May)
1st Shift (June-September):
- $21.40-$22.47/hour (includes +7% summer premium)
- $23.00-$24.15/hour (includes +15% shift differential)
- $24.40-$25.62/hour (includes +22% total premium: shift + summer)
- Industrial foundry setting with exposure to heat, dust, noise, and moving machinery
- Standing, walking, lifting, and repetitive hand use required
- PPE required (safety glasses, ear protection, steel-toe shoes)
- Must be comfortable working in a physically demanding environment
