Analytical Chemist IIJob Description
The position of Analytical Chemist II is responsible for performing advanced analytical analysis of raw materials, in-process solutions, stability, finished goods, and cleaning samples, as well as providing general laboratory support. The role involves 50% laboratory testing using techniques such as FTIR and chromatography, and 50% responsibilities outside the laboratory, including Phase I investigations and data review.
Responsibilities
+ Perform routine and non-routine analysis for raw materials, in-process solutions, stability, and finished goods, including identification testing, refractive index, density, viscosity, water activity, pH, appearance, taste, and smell testing.
+ Conduct advanced analytical testing such as limits tests, titration, water determination, assay, and impurities testing, along with ICP-MS testing.
+ Conduct pharmaceutical water testing, including nitrate testing, total organic carbon (TOC), and conductivity.
+ Analyze cleaning validation and surveillance samples.
+ Prepare solutions for routine and non-routine analysis, such as buffers and diluents.
+ Execute Phase I investigations.
+ Conduct simple data reviews generated from routine testing.
+ Coordinate samples prior to and following testing activities.
+ Order and stock laboratory supplies.
+ Perform laboratory maintenance activities, including equipment preventative maintenance, calibration, waste disposal, and cleaning laboratory areas.
+ Perform other activities as needed.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or a related technical field.
+
Experience with HPLC and ICP-MS.
+ 4 years of experience working in a GxP laboratory environment.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
+ Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
+ Experience working in current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) or other cGxP environments.
+
Experience with common laboratory equipment such as balances and graduated cylinders.
+
Experience with analytical methods such as chromatography and spectroscopy.
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience conducting laboratory investigations and reviewing routine testing data.
+ Experience using Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
Work Environment
The position is based in a QC Chemistry Lab with a team of 6-10 people on the Chemistry side. The lab is one of the few Analytical Chemistry labs in the nation. The QC team closely collaborates with the Micro team to ensure disposable product lines are properly tested before distribution to customers. The work involves active pharmaceutical ingredients for micro and chemistry labs at the Cary, IL site, including formulated products and disposables.
The role operates on the 2nd shift from 12pm to 8pm.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cary, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $38.00/hr.
