The Site Accounting Manager is a critical leadership role at the Austin Electrical Enclosures business in North Carolina. The position directly reports to the Director of Accounting and has 2 direct reports covering A/R and A/P work processes. The role interfaces among operations, materials management and finance to ensure timely and accurate GL accounting, product costing, internal controls and GAAP financial audit support.
This role is responsible for ensuring timeliness and accuracy of month end close, ensuring overall accounting process compliance, year‑end financial accounting processes as well as helping to design and refine processes for job cost accounting leveraging our ERP system. The role has oversight and responsibility for daily A/R work processes, daily A/P work processes and other accounting related ad‑hoc projects and requirements.
Key Responsibilities Accounting & Financial Reporting- Lead month end close and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Ensure financial records comply with GAAP or IFRS, as applicable.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Oversee physical inventory counts and cycle counts.
- Reconcile inventory balances and investigate discrepancies.
- Ensure accurate valuation of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
- Develop overhead rates and standard product costs for materials, labor, and overhead.
- Perform variance analysis (actual vs. standard) and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor and update Bill of Materials (BOMs) and routing for accurate costing.
- Collaborate with commercial and operational teams to develop annual budgets.
- Track performance against budget and provide regular forecast updates.
- Identify cost‑saving opportunities and areas for financial improvement.
- Supervise and develop accounting staff.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, stewardship and financial discipline.
- Provide training on financial controls and processes.
- Ensure adherence to internal control procedures and GAAP / Financial Audit principles.
- Develop policies and procedures for efficient accounting operations.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities on fixed deadlines with high degree of accuracy.
- Strong communication skills, ability to work cross functionally and manage stakeholder requests.
- Strong problem solving to improve systems and deliver exceptional service to internal and external customers.
- Ability to perform and complete a variety of recurring tasks with minimal supervision & assistance.
- Basic project planning and management skills to identify and design solutions to ensure accurate GL accounting.
