This is a position at Marion Correctional Institution located in Marion, North Carolina (McDowell County). Marion Correctional Institution is a Close‑custody prison housing male offenders. The facility is designed to house a maximum capacity of 793 offenders. This position performs a variety of administrative, clerical, and office support duties. The position requires knowledge of office and work unit policies and procedures to effectively communicate and provide information related to Human Resources, hiring packages, payroll, and employee benefits.
Duties may include preparing documents and reports; composing correspondence, memos, and letters; utilizing office technology; compiling and maintaining records; organizing and maintaining files; posting information; greeting, referring, and assisting visitors, clients, and staff; distributing mail; and performing photocopying and other general office support duties.
- Serve as backup to the Human Resources Technician I.
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing and re-prioritizing daily tasks and meeting daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines.
- Process candidates for vacant positions from the interview stage through New Employee Orientation.
- Process and maintain FMLA‑related documentation and records.
- Facilitate Benefits and Open Enrollment, respond to employee questions, and attend required training sessions.
- Participate in quarterly hiring events.
- Process time entries and payroll‑related reports, respond to payroll inquiries, and assist with resolving payroll issues.

Salary Grade Range: $31,200.00 - $51,249.00. Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:
