Account Manager - Business Services

Overview

The Account Manager with the Business Services Team will act as a liaison between Rowan-Cabarrus Community College (RCCC) and regional industries, businesses, municipalities, and government agencies to facilitate and collaborate on all service offerings provided by the college. Primarily, this will be business development and sales of corporate contract training and/or open enrollment training offerings for corporate and continuing education. The account manager will identify and understand the client’s needs and provide solutions, adapting new strategies to keep up with current business trends.

• Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the area of assignment and two (2) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

• Existing business and industry contacts in Rowan and Cabarrus Counties, and sales experience that includes cold calling.
• Knowledge of contract training in the continuing education setting would be beneficial.

An Account Manager must be inventive, flexible, and adaptable, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment. They must also be innovative, resourceful, possess strong marketing skills and a solid business background regarding current and emerging trends. The candidate should be target‑oriented, a team player, enthusiastic, an effective communicator, well organized, capable of drawing relevant insights to meet client expectations, and have a wide personal network to help find new leads and sign potential clients.

Normal working hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional work before or after normal hours, holidays, weekends, and school calendar breaks. Local travel is required; out‑of‑state travel is limited but may be required for special trainings or conferences.

• Manage corporate contract training for businesses, industry, municipalities, and government agencies.
• Collaborate on cross‑functional responsibilities for the North Carolina Manufacturing Institute, Bio Work & Aseptic Manufacturing, Supply Chain & Logistics.
• Monitor and participate in day‑to‑day business development activities and services, ensuring offerings meet specified needs and requirements.
• Supervise lower‑level employees, contract employees, and/or student workers: prioritize and assign work, conduct performance evaluations, ensure training and adherence to policies and safety, and make hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
• Evaluate services and instructors; monitor budgets; coordinate contract services; select instructors; develop program offerings and trainings.
• Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as needed.
