The Chief of Staff and Special Projects Lead will report directly to the [President], acting as a hands-on leader for key strategic initiatives. This individual will partner with senior leadership in a solutions-oriented capacity, creating and driving processes to support business objectives and drive initiatives for both organic growth and infrastructure support. This part of the dynamic role will require a high degree of independent thinking and aptitude for process definition and change management.

As part of the candidate’s additional responsibilities, the individual will be also heavily involved with pre- and post-closing add-on M&A initiatives, including conducting acquisition due diligence; developing constructive relationships with acquisition targets and buyside brokers; coordinating post-close integration; and conducting ad hoc analyses and spearheading projects to improve business operations.

This individual will be an in-house ‘utility player’ to engage in our client's highest value-creating initiatives. This position involves working directly with and providing insights into the Executive Leadership Team and the private equity sponsor.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Partner with the President, VP Finance and senior operational leaders on developing strategies and content related to short and long-term business objectives including strategic planning
  • Monitor and track company initiatives, driving timelines and ensuring accountability for tasks and milestones
  • Create structure and focus for broad, ambiguous ideas that the executive team is exploring and bring forth recommendations for action in a timely manner
  • Drive execution of action items agreed upon by the board and company leadership
  • Maintain strong and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide project management for implementation of key initiatives
  • Manage relationships with buyside brokers
  • Provide ad-hoc support on projects small to large; this could include research, financial modeling, internal initiatives, new expansion explorations, and more. Step in where help is most needed
Experience and Qualifications
  • Target minimum of 7 years of experience, preferably in private equity, investment banking, or a management consulting environment
  • Superior problem-solving skills are part of his / her DNA, likely developed in a world class organization
  • Proven ability to track, prioritize, and drive multiple concurrent projects to success; ability to set priorities and keep stakeholders informed of progress
  • Well-developed presentation skills and experience making compelling recommendations to senior leadership
  • Strong executive presence; excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Superior interpersonal skills with ability to effectively partner with cross-functional teams and external parties, able to lead and influence across multiple levels and multiple functions of an organization
  • High degree of integrity and discretion; rigorous attention to detail
  • Self-starter and proactive individual with a keen sense of ownership and commitment to work
  • Analytical and strategic mindset with ability to process complex information and data quickly; must be able to leverage data to develop insights and support or disprove hypothesis
  • Quantifiable track record of impact / value creation
  • BA/BS or equivalent is required; MBA preferred
  • Ability to travel occasionally with the possibility of more extensive travel requirements associated with a particular project
