Site Safety Manager

Position Description

Reports To:
Sr. Safety Manager

The Site Safety Manager will prioritize our employees' safety, health, and welfare. Faulconer believes in LEADING safety, not MANAGING safety. Working in a team environment, the Site Safety Manager will influence safe behaviors through relationship-building and coaching other employees. Candidate will maintain Faulconer's Core Values at all times. This position will report to the Sr. Safety Manager with added guidance and support from the Faulconer Safety Team and Director of Field Safety.

• Site safety inspections
• Lead incident investigations.
• Onsite coaching and influencing safe working behaviors.
• Safety training (including excavation, confined space, fall protection, material handling, ladder use, concrete, heavy equipment & road work)
• Assist Faulconer operations team in conducting effective risk assessments (AHA's).
• Attend any safety meetings that are required by Faulconer Construction and the general contractor.
• Responsible for purchasing and maintaining PPE and other safety-related equipment.
• Review plans and drawings to prepare plans and assist in planning activities.
• Develop toolbox talks that are specific to our latest trends and industry trends.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis and develop lessons learned to distribute to field employees.
• Complete and communicate incident reports and lessons learned to communicate to operations teams.
• Elevate site safety concerns to Faulconer safety team.
• Provide weekly updates during Safety Team Weekly Safety Meeting.

The qualified candidate should reside in the central NC area in close proximity to to job site. The qualified candidate should posses the necessary soft skills to build solid working relationships with all employees and sub-contractors on site, and the ability to influence safe working behaviors in a manner which is respected by the workers and site leadership. The right candidate should also have the ability to influence near miss and incident reporting .

In addition, the right candidate should have the ability to stop jobs when warranted, and be able to engage in difficult but professional discussions with operations leadership.

• 3-5 years as a site safety manager for multiple employer construction sites
• Multiple Trade Experience (Concrete, Cranes, Heavy Civil, Clearing, Rigging, Landscaping, etc.)
• OSHA 500 Certification is preferred but not required. If you do not have an OSHA 500 certification, you must be able to obtain it within 6 months of employment.
• CPR/FA Instructor Certification is preferred but not required. As with the OSHA 500, you must be able to obtain it within 6 months of employment.
• NC DOT Roadway experience
• Valid driver's license with a favorable driving record
• Ability to pass drug screen
• Ability to pass a federal, state and local background check
• Positive, team oriented attitude
• Open to personal and professional training and development
