Position Overview

Gensler Columbus is seeking an experienced Interior Designer who will tackle complex design challenges—both conceptually and technically—while collaborating with integrated project teams to develop innovative solutions.

What You Will Do
  • Collaborate on interior and architectural projects, including programming client needs, concept design, schematic design, design development, and documentation, and manage budget/schedule adherence.
  • Participate in project visioning with the team to create a compelling design narrative that reflects the project story and brand.
  • Create and develop materiality and design strategy with the team to support experiential design and brand story.
  • Develop space planning concepts and generate program documents.
  • Selection of FF&E.
  • Coordinate project team activities for finished plans, FF&E specifications, and material selections required for construction.
  • Utilize technical knowledge and delivery experience for effective documentation and detailing.
  • Work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives.
  • Participate in construction administration of projects and review of submittals and finish samples.
  • Support managing client expectations and coordinating team and consultant communications.
  • Support office leadership in business development activities and be present in the market.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of related professional experience as an interior designer.
  • Experience across multiple practices such as workplace, higher education, healthcare, hospitality, retail, and residential.
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or Architecture.
  • Proficiency in Revit, Rhinoceros, Adobe Creative Suite, and MS Office.
  • Strong conceptual planning skills.
  • Strong knowledge of the design process, including FF&E specifications, color, and materials.
  • Strong graphic and visualization skills to communicate design ideas.
  • Ability to craft and communicate compelling narratives through design and storytelling.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects in various stages of development simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication of design ideas and direction quickly.
  • Self‑motivated with strong leadership, organizational, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • NCIDQ certification required.
