What You'll Be Doing
Serve Your Community as a Youth Services Librarian at West Regional Library in western Cary!
Engage directly with our youngest Wake County citizens as a Youth Services Librarian, where you'll have the chance to share the magic of the library with the community. From delivering captivating programs, to offering personalized service and working on a service desk, you'll create unforgettable experiences that inspire a lifelong love of reading and learning. Your role will be essential in connecting children and caregivers with the library's resources, fostering relationships and building community.
Key Responsibilities of a Youth Services Librarian Create Engaging Programs- Unleash your creativity by designing and implementing dynamic programs for children of all ages.
- Create these experiences to spark curiosity and joy.
- Take charge in the absence of the library manager(s) to ensure the smooth operations of the library.
- Be a support and resource for your colleagues.
- Join forces with a dedicated team to brainstorm, plan and execute programs, projects and maintain collections.
- Contribute your unique strengths while fostering an environment of support, innovation and shared success.
- Work with managers and peers to establish and nurture strong relationships with the community.
- Promote library services and forge relationships that enhance our programs and services.
- Work directly with the public providing excellent customer service, reference and readers advisory services.

Schedule:

Education and Experience )
- Master's degree in Librarianship or related field: MLS, MLIS, MIS, ML from an ALA accredited program or NC program
- No specific experience required
- Equivalent education and experience are NOT accepted

- Coursework in youth services
- One year of professional public library experience working with children
- Spanish language skills
- Is knowledgeable and enjoys working with children birth through teens and their caregivers
- Is skilled at presenting programs to children
- Excels at providing customer service
- Is energetic, motivated, detail-oriented, and flexible
- Has great technology skills
- Demonstrates excellent communication and leadership skills
- Maintains a knowledge of library trends in Youth Services
- Builds and maintains positive and respectful working relationships
