Position Overview

The East Carolina University College of Nursing (ECUCON), Department of Nursing Science seeks applicants for a full‑time, tenure‑track faculty position. Academic appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications of the applicant.

• Maintain an active program of research in an area relevant to the mission of the college.
• Establish a funded program of research.
• Produce scholarly works, including peer‑reviewed publications and presentations at state, national, and/or international levels.
• Teach, develop, and evaluate relevant courses within the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs.
• Provide academic advisement and research mentorship to doctoral and Honors College students.
• Chair and serve on PhD dissertation committees.
• Participate in shared governance through college and university‑level committee work.
• Attend meetings and committee work three days per week.

• Earned PhD in nursing (or related field, plus a master’s degree in nursing) or an EdD (plus a master’s degree in nursing) at the time of hire. Qualifying degrees must be received from accredited institutions.
• Evidence of a developed or developing research trajectory.
• Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• In‑person and online teaching experience in a university or college setting is preferred.

A valid non‑restricted North Carolina registered nurse license is required upon employment.

• Full‑time position.
