Job Summary
Tutors work in the Academic Success Center (ASC) or an assigned department, providing one‑on‑one and small‑group instruction to help students better understand course concepts, become independent learners, and succeed inside and outside the classroom. The role also includes sharing learning, studying, and test‑taking strategies and performing clerical duties to support the ASC’s functions. Tutoring subjects include accounting, basic computer concepts, economics, English, English for academic purposes, math, science, and modern foreign languages.
Responsibilities- Conduct individual, small-group, and/or remote tutoring sessions.
- Assess, assist, and encourage students during tutoring sessions.
- Monitor tutor appointment schedules.
- Assist students with making appointments.
- Assist in the development of workshops and exam reviews.
- Facilitate group study sessions (workshops, exam reviews, etc.).
- Participate in tutor training sessions and department meetings.
- Represent the ASC during classroom visitations, orientations, and campus‑wide events.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent accredited GED.
- Tutoring experience in the subject area strongly preferred.
- Advanced levels and proficiency in the subject areas to be tutored.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management and customer service skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends.
- Available to work a minimum of 10 hours weekly.
Part‑time position; variable work hours may include evenings and weekends up to 27.5 per week, scheduled on a semester‑by‑semester basis and dependent on departmental needs.
Salary range: $14.00 – $16.00 per hour.
