Position: PT Instructor, OSHA 10 General Industry

DEFINITION

The Part Time OSHA 10 Training Instructor will provide classroom instruction to E&WD students through lecture and demonstration on topics related to safety in general industry.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
  • Receives general supervision from Workforce Training Coordinator
  • Exercises no supervision
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Provide classroom and laboratory instruction in keeping with OSHA‑approved requirements and procedures for the 10‑hour General Industry training topics.
  • Prepare lesson plans and schedule classroom activities.
  • Develop and prepare supplemental materials to enhance lesson plans.
  • Develop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance; grade and record individual scores.
  • Provide classroom demonstrations on various equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance; maintain other records according to program needs or accreditation requirements.
OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE OF
  • Course requirements for OSHA 10 Certification
  • Principles and procedures of recordkeeping
  • Principles and procedures of academic and instructional administration in the area of assignment
  • Introductory information regarding OSHA for General Industry, including but not limited to:
  • Walking and working surfaces, including fall protection
  • Exit routes, emergency action plans, fire prevention plans and fire protection
  • Electrical safety
  • Personal protective equipment
  • Hazard communication
  • Hazardous materials & safety data sheets
  • Machine guarding
  • Lockout/tagout
  • Bloodborne pathogens
ABILITY TO
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Interpret and apply CFCC goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully, both verbally and in writing.
  • Maintain effective audio‑visual discrimination and perception needed for:
  • Making observations

  • Communicating with others
  • Operating assigned equipment
  • Handling varied tasks simultaneously
  • Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following:

  • Bending, stooping, climbing, or lifting up to 50 pounds

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES MINIMUM EDUCATION / TRAINING
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • OSHA 10 Instructor Certificate
  • Completion of OSHA 30 Course
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
  • 5 years’ experience in general industry
