DEFINITION
The Part Time OSHA 10 Training Instructor will provide classroom instruction to E&WD students through lecture and demonstration on topics related to safety in general industry.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED- Receives general supervision from Workforce Training Coordinator
- Exercises no supervision
- Provide classroom and laboratory instruction in keeping with OSHA‑approved requirements and procedures for the 10‑hour General Industry training topics.
- Prepare lesson plans and schedule classroom activities.
- Develop and prepare supplemental materials to enhance lesson plans.
- Develop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance; grade and record individual scores.
- Provide classroom demonstrations on various equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance; maintain other records according to program needs or accreditation requirements.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Course requirements for OSHA 10 Certification
- Principles and procedures of recordkeeping
- Principles and procedures of academic and instructional administration in the area of assignment
- Introductory information regarding OSHA for General Industry, including but not limited to:
- Walking and working surfaces, including fall protection
- Exit routes, emergency action plans, fire prevention plans and fire protection
- Electrical safety
- Personal protective equipment
- Hazard communication
- Hazardous materials & safety data sheets
- Machine guarding
- Lockout/tagout
- Bloodborne pathogens
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Interpret and apply CFCC goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully, both verbally and in writing.
- Maintain effective audio‑visual discrimination and perception needed for:
- Making observations
- Reading and writing
- Communicating with others
- Operating assigned equipment
- Handling varied tasks simultaneously
- Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following:
- Standing or sitting for extended periods of time
- Operating assigned equipment
- Handling varied tasks simultaneously
- Bending, stooping, climbing, or lifting up to 50 pounds
- Maintain mental capacity, which allow the capability of:
- Making sound decisions
- Responding to questions
- Demonstrating intellectual capabilities
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- OSHA 10 Instructor Certificate
- Completion of OSHA 30 Course
- 5 years’ experience in general industry
