Job Description
Step into a meaningful role supporting students as a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in a school-based, contract position. Serve K-12 students across multiple campuses, providing both direct instruction and collaborative services as an itinerant educator. This opportunity is tailored for passionate professionals dedicated to enhancing communication access and educational outcomes for students with hearing differences.
Key
Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Teacher (DHH)
- Experience working with K-12 students in educational settings preferred
- Understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and specialized instructional strategies
- Strong collaboration skills for consulting with general education teachers, interpreting teams, and support staff
- Flexibility to travel between school sites as required
- Willingness to expand into special education roles if fully licensed and seeking full-time hours
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct, individualized instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting materials to meet varied learning styles and communication needs
- Implement and contribute to IEP processes, assessing progress and updating instructional strategies as necessary
- Consult with faculty and families to ensure accommodations and modifications are effective
- Facilitate access to classroom curriculum through support strategies that may include sign language, assistive listening devices, and visual aids
- Advocate for student inclusion and effective communication within school environments
- Engage actively in team meetings and ongoing professional development
