About This Role

The Supervising Engineer will oversee the detailed design of high voltage substation projects. This role involves managing a team of engineers, designers and support staff to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. The ideal candidate will have a degree in electrical engineering and extensive experience performing the detailed design of high voltage substation projects.

What

You’ll Do
  • Review vendor documentation and coordinate with the internal sourcing team.
  • Support the proposal team by preparing bill of materials, developing technical concepts and providing single line diagrams, layout plans, etc.
  • Coordinate directly with clients, engineers, sub‑contractors and suppliers on technical issues and interfaces.
  • Plan and perform technical design reviews with design teams and report risks to line management and PM.
  • Review inspection and test plans, and attend FAT for major electrical equipment if required.
  • List and report all deviations from engineering specifications, and implement corrective actions in cooperation with PM.
  • Answer technical site questions and review non‑conformance reports from site from an engineering perspective.
  • Perform other duties as required.
What You’ll Bring
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in the electric utility industry or EPC companies performing engineering or management duties for high voltage electrical substation design.
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or graduate degree in electrical engineering from an ABET‑accredited university.
  • P.E. license required.
  • Proven track record of leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
  • Strong technical expertise in electrical engineering with a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles and practices.
  • Expert knowledge of electric utility engineering and construction standards.
  • Knowledge of utility industry processes including scheduling, contracts, coordinating and managing all disciplines.
  • Knowledge of processes and procedures for project controls and estimates.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting external customers.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients and external partners.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry codes, standards and regulations, including ANSI, ASTM, ACI, AISC, IEEE NEC, NESC and others.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, work independently, manage multiple tasks and determine priorities in a complex environment.
Travel Requirements
  • Role will require travel as necessary to achieve job responsibilities, up to 10–15% of the time.
