We are seeking a highly skilled Piping Design Expert to enhance our team. In this role, you'll have the chance to engage with innovative industrial and commercial facilities, designing solutions that genuinely influence our clients' success.
This position is based in our Cary, North Carolina office, where you will apply your technical skills to craft creative piping layouts and support various facility design projects. You will work collaboratively with engineers and interdisciplinary teams to ensure that your designs are precise and feasible while meeting project scope, timelines, and budget constraints. Additionally, this role provides an excellent opportunity to advance your capabilities and participate in change management and project estimation processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop piping layouts and routing using AutoCAD Plant 3D or Revit.
- Utilize fundamental piping design principles, focusing on pipe sizing, routing, and interdisciplinary coordination.
- Assist in creating facility equipment layouts that prioritize safety and efficiency.
- Review vendor drawings and incorporate equipment data into the piping models.
- Understand project scope and identify potential design-related modifications.
- Help prepare person-hour estimates for your designated tasks.
- Collaborate with global teams to ensure smooth execution of workshare projects.
- Adhere to Jacobs' standards, procedures, and quality expectations.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Design Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of piping design experience in industrial or commercial settings.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Plant 3D or Revit for piping design and modeling.
- Strong understanding of piping design fundamentals with practical experience in equipment layouts.
- Ability to accurately interpret piping specifications.
- Must be a US Citizen.
Please note:
This hybrid role requires being present at the Cary, NC office two days a week.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (not required).
- Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or advanced manufacturing facilities.
- Familiarity with pipe stress considerations and collaborative design integration.
- Ability to support specification management and QA/QC processes.
- Experience with Hexagon Smart Plant 3D alongside AutoCAD Plant 3D or Revit.
- Exposure to global workshare execution and teamwork in design projects.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration across different disciplines.
- Strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
