Job Family DescriptionProject management personnel plan, monitor and manage internal projects from initiation through completion. Program management personnel manage programs responsible for the execution of multiple projects or sub-projects. They secure required resources and use formal processes and tools to manage resources, budgets, risks, and changes. They manage projects to ensure on-time completion according to specifications and within budgeted costs.
Discipline DescriptionConstruction field engineers plan, direct, and coordinate execution of construction field activities within the civil, mechanical, electrical, and welding disciplines. They perform constructability reviews of design documents to ensure details and information is adequate for successful completion of construction and provide design agencies with construction technical input for design development and required changes. They review and manage the implementation of project design and maintenance activities using existing specifications, national Codes and standards, drawings, and the latest construction techniques.
Construction engineers ensure that proper work processes, design, quality, schedule, safety, security, and environmental requirements are communicated to and adhered to by Craftsmen and their supervision. They develop construction scope turnover packages and coordinate turnover to Start-up, as required, in support of the project schedules. They perform inspections as required by Codes and designs and create maintain proper inspection documentation.
Construction field engineers participate in team environments including developing effective solutions to technical issues encountered, working with applicable Health and Safety personnel to ensure work is conducted in a safe manner, and perform frequent jobsite reviews to ensure components and systems are properly installed.
Responsibilities Include:
The role of the Construction Discipline Engineer (CDE) is to provide technical information, direction, and ensure installations are technically correct per the construction policies and procedures, design and quality requirements. In accordance with established policies and procedures, CDE is responsible for:
- Ensuring that Construction engineering work processes, design, quality, and other technical requirements are issued and communicated to the superintendent and crafts.
- Assisting in planning construction methods and procedures. Preparing bulk/field material lists and requisitions including quantities.
- Assisting in coordination of vendor material deliveries.
- Performing inspections, surveillance and maintaining records on construction installations and testing.
- Supporting trends for contemplated and approved design changes or any construction engineering change that impacts the cost and schedule of the work.
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering field plus at least five years of experience (YOE) in a relevant role, OR Master's degree in relevant field plus at least two years of experience (YOE), OR Doctoral degree in relevant field
- Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered
College degree in a technical discipline and practical experience in construction engineering preferred. Previous SRS Experience. Previous experience related to construction engineering, work planning, job hazards analysis, and material procurement utilizing SRS specific processes, programs, procedures, and systems.
