Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in geotechnical or heavy civil construction to take ownership of multi‑million‑pound projects from inception through completion. This is a pivotal role for someone who thrives in solving complex engineering challenges, leading site teams, and driving project success.
Responsibilities- Lead the delivery of deep foundation, earth retention, and ground improvement projects to scope, schedule, and budget.
- Manage all commercial, contractual, and technical aspects of assigned projects.
- Oversee site operations, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal technical teams.
- Prepare project schedules, risk registers, method statements, and progress reports.
- Foster a strong culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Serve as the primary client point of contact, ensuring relationships are strengthened and expectations exceeded.
- Support bid preparation, value‑engineering exercises, and feasibility assessments.
- 10+ years of experience in geotechnical construction, heavy civil engineering, or related ground‑engineering disciplines.
- Proven track record managing deep foundations (piling, drilled shafts, CFA, micropiles), earth retention systems (soil nails, anchors, shotcrete, secant/tangent walls), or ground improvement (jet grouting, vibro, compaction, etc.).
- Strong commercial acumen and understanding of construction contracts (NEC, JCT, or similar).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, technical environment with multiple concurrent priorities.
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent (preferred).
- Relevant industry certifications (CSCS, SMSTS, etc.) beneficial.
